The electoral commission has hailed the media for a great role played in the voter education in the February general polls

Speaking at a media evaluation workshop commission chairman Eng Badru Kiggundu said the media were very strong allies and helped sensitize members of the public on their voter, rights, duties and responsibilities.

He says the media also helped connect the electorate with the political players and the election managers.

He challenges the incoming commission to maintain the good working relationship with the media however noting that some CSOs were very adversarial and he will have to advise the new commission on how best to handle them.

The evaluation workshop has attracted editors and journalists from a wide range of media houses from Kampala and upcountry.
