Ugandan troops receive grand sendoff
The Battle Group XX of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces has been praised by the African Union Mission in Somalia, at a sendoff ceremony held in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Simon Mulongo, the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of AMISOM commended the outgoing troops, saying there is higher no higher price than offering one’s own life for the sake of others and development.
The outgoing Ugandan Contingent Commander Brigadier Kayanja Muhanga has noted that other than military operations, the contingent had also supported the recruitment, training and mentoring of the Somali National Army personnel within its area of responsibility.
They have also received medals and certificates for their exemplary service in the peacekeeping Mission.
