UNBS to introduce E-tag.

David Kugonza | November 16, 2016

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards is set to invigorate use of E-tag in an effort to fight faking of Quality-Mark.

According to the deputy executive director in charge of technical services Patricia Ejaru, many products are on the market claiming to be certified yet they are using faked quality mark.

She explained that to encounter this issue, they are planning to extend use of Electronic tag to all products on the market even beyond agricultural products.

She adds that under this system, all products will have a tag with a unique number which a consumer can SMS to the Bureau and verify whether the product is fully certified or not.
