UPDF Withdrawal From South Sudan Irks Ugandan Traders

Issa Ssekitto KACITA spokesperson

Uganda’s business community too has spoken out on the news of Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) troop withdrawal from South Sudan.
The spokesperson Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) Mr.Isa Ssekito describes the move as one of mixed fortunes.
He says that although the withdrawal cuts down on Uganda’s expenditure on the UPDF, it exposes Ugandan traders to the inhuman treatment by South Sudanese.

Ssekito says before the war broke out in December 2013 may atrocities had been committed against Ugandans operating in Africa’s youngest nation and so there there is still need for protection which only the UPDF could provide.

The UPDF Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Katumba Wamala announced at a news conference this afternoon at the Uganda Media Center, that Uganda has started pulling out its troops from South Sudan.

Gen. Wamala told a says the last batch of troops will leave by 1st November 2015.
