key suspect & Tabliq sect leader Sheikh Yunus Kamoga is sane.

A police surgeon in-charge of Naguru Health Centre IV has told the High court International Crimes Division that the leader of the Tabliq sect Sheikh Yunus Kamoga, the key suspect in the murder trial of Muslim clerics is sane.

The first prosecution witness whose names and identity have been concealed told court that on the 21st/January 2015 he received instructions from police to examine the mental status of suspects including Sheikh Yunus Kamoga , Mudde Bukenya and Fahad Kalungi .

The trial is being presided over by Judges Ezekiel Muhanguzi, Percy Tuhaise and Elizabeth Nahamya

Earlier before this witness took to the dock, court had granted prosecution’s request to protect the identity of its witnesses as the case is a sensitive one that could put other lives at risk.

The witness has informed court that upon a thorough examination of the trio at the Special Investigations Unit Clinic in Kireka, he established that they were sane state, with no chronic illness or physical injuries.

Kamoga is jointly charged with 13 other people with the murder of Sheikhs Mustafa Bahiga and Hassan Kirya and for threatening the lives of many more.
