Aston Villa sack manager Roberto Di Matteo sacked

David Kugonza | October 3, 2016

Aston Villa have sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo after a run of just one victory in 12 games in charge of the club.

Owner Dr Tony Xia has lost patience following the single win in 11 Championship games to leave the side in 19th place despite sanctioning a £50million summer spend on new players.

Villa were also knocked out in the first round of the EFL Cup by League Two side Luton.

The Italian’s former assistant, Steve Clarke, will take temporary charge of Villa following Di Matteo’s departure.
