Cheptegei sets new 10km road world lead at Cannes

Joshua Cheptegei has won the 10km Cannes road race at 26:49.

He win ahead of Kenya’s Samuel Habtom at 27:51 & Uganda’s Abel Sikowo coming in 3rd at 27:58.

The Minister of education and Sports congratulated the athlete for raising the Uganda flag high.

@joshuacheptege1 you have made us proud once again by setting a new 10km road world lead at Cannes today! May God keep using you to fly the flag of Uganda high!” she tweeted.

Cheptegei thanked God for letting him win the race and expressed optimism that he will do great things this year.

“I thank God almighty for the grace to run strong again after a long time. I am optimistic that this year God will do something great,” he said.
