Conjoined Twins Fight For Life At Mulago Hospital

Reporter | October 31, 2016

By Shamim Nateebwa

A set of conjoined twins born at Naggalama Health Center has been admitted at Mulago Hospital in critical condition.

The babies are born to 28-year-old Sarah Aliyiza and Ziyadi Mugoya residents of Nampirika Zone B in Iganga district.

Mulago hospital spokesperson Enock Kusaasira says the twins are joined at the abdomen and doctors are now examining their body parts to see how active and responsive they are.

The babies are under the care of their grandmother identified as Madina Naigwe.

Medical experts have previously explained that cases of Siamese twins are a result of failure by identical twins to separate.
