EU to launch Slum project tomorrow
The European Union Ambassador to Uganda is tomorrow set to launch a Sh16.4 billion project to support slum dwellers in Kampala.
The project targeting 1000 slum dwellers aims at addressing the root causes of inter-communal conflict, radicalization and violent extremism in slum populations through strengthening community cohesion around shared development assets.
According to a statement released by the EU office, the project will provide employment opportunities and other basic local services to about 1,000 youth, women and other vulnerable groups.
IT is also to provide capacity development on conflict sensitive service delivery for the police, Kampala City Council Authority Employment services Bureau, among other bodies.
The project to be launched at Bwaise Youth Employment Centre is to target slums of Bwaise, Kisenyi, Katwe, and Kabalagala.
