Farmers asked to venture into cocoa.

Ugandan farmers have been asked to consider resorting to Cocoa growing for its ready market especially abroad specially in EU market.

According to export index 2015-2016, Uganda gets 60 million dollars from export of cocoa that is mainly grown from Rukungri and Mukono majorly.

According to the executive director Uganda export promotions board Dr Elli Twineyo, many farmers have not realized the untapped opportunities in cocoa farming, yet its demand is extremely high.

Currently a kilo of dried cocoa ranges between 8000-10000 shillings, and green cocoa is between 2800-3000.
