Former NRM rebel MP’s sued over legal fees

Four law firms have dragged former NRM rebel Members of Parliament to the High Court over failure to pay Sh8bn in legal fees.

The affected MPs are Theodore Sekikubo, Barnabs Tinkasiimire, Muhammad Nsereko and Wilfred Nuwagaba.

The said money arises out of representation and submissions made by Victoria Advocates and legal Consultants, Kwesigabo, Bamwine and Walubiri advocates, Lukwago and Company Advocates and Alaka and Company Advocates on behalf of the said MPs both in the Constitutional and Supreme courts between 2014-2015.

The law firms claim they were instructed by the MPs to file defenses and appeals in cases where their party NRM wanted them to vacate their seats in parliament on grounds that it had expelled them due to indiscipline.

The firms contend that they filed numerous documents and engaged in extensive research plus making so many appearances but the MPs have not paid them a penny.

The court’s deputy registrar Alex Ajiji has notified all the parties that he will preside over this application for bill of costs on November 15^th 2016.
