Govt seeks 309 billion for Busefa-Mpigi Expressway

David Kugonza | October 6, 2016

Government is seeking parliamentary approval of 91 million dollars (about 309 billion shillings) as loan from the African Development Bank to finance the final construction of Busega-Mpigi Express High Way.

Works State Minister Aggrey Bagiire while appearing before parliament’s committee on National Economy said that that the money will be managed well for adequate implementation of a four lane carrier.

Mr Bagiire says the project upon completion will reduce the heavy traffic flow along the Kampala-Northern bypass.

However Syda Bumba, the Committee Chair has expressed concerns with the frequent use of foreign contractors while denying local companies such opportunities.
