Health experts are concerned that the low -income levels among the community is contributing to the raise in the number of malnourished children.

According to Dr. Patrick Kasendwa in charge Nkozi Health center in Mpigi district says, most of the malnourished cases in children which are being registered at the hospital come from low income households.

He says, every month 15 cases of malnourished children, are registered each month and, two out of the 15 cases are severe cases.

Dr. Patrick Kasendwa’s remarks comes at a time when the six East African Member states are preparing to launch an East African global nutrition report on Friday 29th this week at an occasion which will be held in Tanzania .

According to the survey carried out in the six East African countries, 1 in every 3 children are found to be stunted.
