Internal affairs to tackle policing gap

The internal affairs minister Gen Jeje Odong has decried the increasing policing gap in Uganda that is failing police operations.

Currently Uganda has only 45,000 police officers that are policing the 34 million Ugandans.

While speaking to media during a familiarization tour at police headquarters today, Gen Jeje Odong said that the police to people ratio of 1: 9,000 are unacceptable, thus extra efforts are needed to boost recruitment of more offices.

He explained that moving forward his ministry is support police to recruit more officers to enable it increase its visibility and effort reduce crime rate.
