Land grabbing blamed on poor record keeping

admin | August 3, 2015

The absence of an updated government registry in the Uganda Land Commission has been cited as a cause of land grabbing and encroachment on government properties.

According to the Auditor General’s report of 2014, many of government properties have been encroached upon but the commission cannot reclaim them due to lack of proper records.

The Auditor General John Muwanga tells KFM that government must have a proper updated registry of its properties to enable easy follow-up in case of encroachment or theft.
