KAMPALA: Parliament resumes today (Tuesday) afternoon after close to a month of recess with Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth in the chair.
During the sitting, Members of Parliament will consider the Education and Sports Committee’s report on a petition from graduates of Ernest Cook Ultrasound Research and Education Institute, now Ernest Cook University, concerning degrees awarded between 2011 and 2017.
They will also debate on another Education and Sports Committee report concerning former students awarded a diploma in an unaccredited programme and allegations of misuse of government funds.
The Finance committee is also expected to table a proposal to borrow up to over 140 billion shillings (€31.98 million) from France to construct and equip the Uganda Cancer Institute’s Mbarara Regional Oncology Centre.
InWater and environment, the responsible minister will present a statement on the sector for FY2025/26.
This will be the first sitting of the second meeting of the first session of the 12th Parliament.
