State minister of education speaks out on Muk
The state minister of higher education John Crysostom Muyingo has said that the government is committed to put things right at Makerere University after the visitation committee is done with its work.
The university council has faulted the government for the current financial constraints the university is facing, blaming it for failure to take over the wage bill of the university since 2006 among other issues.
Speaking to KFM, Muyingo says this is not the time for playing the blame game, but a time to work and resolve the challenges at the university.
He notes that if the government is responsible for the problems Makerere is facing, they are ready to fix things right once the visitation committee is done with its investigations.
He also called upon all stake holders to be calm and co-operate with the Visitation committee which was appointed by president Museveni and allow it to do its work.
The committee is expected to wind up investigations into the affairs of the university and come up with a report within three months.
