Typhoid outbreak threatens Uganda’s international trade relations

Uganda risks being slapped with a trade and travel ban over the growing health threat posed by the Typhoid outbreak by the World Health Organisation.
Following revelation that most of Uganda’s water for domestic consumption is contaminated by fecal matter, the World Health Organisation said such a decision was possible.
However, Director General of Health Services Dr. Jane Achieng says the ministry has not received any such communication, adding that it will not be necessary.
This comes as the disease continues to ravage various parts of the country with over 4,500 confirmed cases being handled at different health centers.
Out of these, 4000 are receiving treatment at the Kisenyi Health Center IV in Kampala.
