URA closes fuelex station over Sh700m debt

Uganda Revenue Authority has closed down Fuelex petrol station in Nalukolongo, Kamapala.

The station’s Restaurant and supermarket have also been closed.

According to the URA’s manager debt collection, Abdul Salam Waiswa, the company has accumulated taxes totaling to Sh.70 million in Value Added Tax.

He says the company has been changing its management making it hard for them to collect taxes.

The station had earlier been closed by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards for selling adulterated fuel.

Earlier during the operation launched this morning, the authority closed down a wholesale shop at Arua Park belonging to a one Mayimuuna Nanfuka over a Sh200 million debt.

The operation continues in other Kampala suburbs.
