Youths mourn labour day

Reporter | May 1, 2014

Youth begin Match

Youths across the political divide have today held a peaceful demonstration from Busega to the Pan African square.

The youths organized the demonstration to allegedly mourn the acute levels of unemployment in the country.

The demonstration that involved riding bicycles attracted youths from the NRM, the Opposition and Civil Society.

Led by activist Andrew Karamagi, the youths said that they have nothing to celebrate about workers day since most of them are unemployed.

Karamagi said government has not provided a convenient environment for them to engage in self-sustaining projects yet its interventions like the youth fund have also not yielded fruit.

The international Labor Day is running under the theme working with the youth to address the unemployment challenges.
